Parasailing is one of the most popular activities in Marmaris — and it earns that popularity. Floating silently 150 metres above one of the Mediterranean\'s most beautiful bays, with the turquoise sea below and pine-clad mountains around you, is an experience that stays with you long after the holiday ends.
The good news: parasailing in Marmaris is affordable, safe, accessible to most people regardless of fitness or experience, and takes about 30 minutes start to finish. This guide covers everything you need to know.
Morning sessions (9am–12pm) typically have the calmest conditions and least wind. Afternoon can be excellent too. Operators suspend sessions if wind exceeds safety thresholds — always a good sign they take safety seriously.
What Happens Step by Step
From beach to sky and back
Check In with the Operator
Head to the parasailing boat on the beach or marina. Staff will weigh you in (for safety calculations) and fit your harness.
Safety Briefing
Short 5-minute brief — how to take off, how to signal the boat, how to land. Very simple, takes no athleticism whatsoever.
Harness Up & Launch
You sit on the rear platform as the parachute fills with air. The boat accelerates and you lift gently and smoothly into the sky.
Soaring Over Marmaris Bay
Float silently 100–200m above the turquoise bay. The views of the mountains, the harbour and the coastline are extraordinary.
The Optional Dip
Most operators offer a brief dip in the sea mid-flight where they dip you into the water before pulling you back up. Hugely popular.
Landing
Glide back down onto the boat platform for a smooth, seated landing. The whole flight is typically 8–15 minutes.
